Set to take place on the Knavesmire in the city on Saturday September 23, it has been confirmed that Jason Manford’s Comedy Club, curated by the funnyman himself, will head to Yorkshire for its first festival showing of 2017.
A UK exclusive, Jason Manford’s Comedy Club will be housed in a bespoke seated marquee on the site, with three two-hour comedy shows throughout the day.
Featuring a rotating line up across the afternoon and into the early evening, there’s bound to be something to appeal to the laughter lovers out there, and festival goers will still get to see the live stage headliners with organisers keen to make it a day to remember for everyone.
Manford’s Comedy Club was launched by comedian Jason Manford and his brother Colin just over two years ago.
The idea was to bring comedians from the UK circuit to small towns and cities across the country for a night of live comedy. The shows feature well-known names in both the comedy and television circuit and are all personally chosen by Jason Manford.
Reflecting on the Comedy Club’s Yorfest debut, Manford said: “The aim of our pop up shows is to put top quality comedians in front of local audiences at a good price, so when I was approached about bringing a Comedy Stage to the Festival, I jumped at it.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting and innovative festival and this will be the first major festival for Manfords.
“I have played in York on all my previous UK tours and love it here - it is one of my favourite cities to play and I am really looking forward to sending some of Manford’s comedians along to Yorfest to experience this wonderful part of the country! We have many surprises in store.”
Seats can be reserved for the comedy sittings (for a small charge on top of an event ticket (from SKIDDLE), or fans can take a chance and grab entry on a first come first serve basis.
Jason Manford’s Comedy Club is poised to compliment Yorfest’s all star cast of live music entertainment with country rock headliners The Shires and indie icon Badly Drawn Boy already confirmed.
Organisers have also today announced further additions to the line-up.
British dub-cum-electronic dance outfit Dreadzone will be heading to York as part of the event alongside Teesside’s pop folk sensations Cattle & Cane, Catherine McGrath, The Ed Sheeran Experience, Apollo Junction, Other Peoples Lives, Hellbound Hearts, The Tunnels, Ginger Tom, Minster Conspiracy, Adelphi and Five K.
Yorfest has said it is delighted to be able to present this year’s acts in a unique outdoor environment headlining a packed and diverse bill of incredible music, featuring some of the best local, national and international acts York city has ever seen.
With over 30 live acts and comedy shows, across four performance areas set to take place, organisers have promised a truly unforgettable family day out again this summer at Bustardthorpe Field on The Knavesmire in York.
There will also be a diverse selection of fine food and drink for sale on site, along with traditional festival fare.
Festival goers can also expect local real ales, a Champagne and Pimms bar, prosecco van, lounge bar, traditional bars, candy floss, doughnuts, waffle bar and more, as well as a kids, play zone, glitter and face painting, various stalls and vintage fairground rides too.
Yorfest takes place at York Knavesmire (Racecourse) on Saturday September 23 from 11.30am-11pm.
