The 60-year-old, who founded the pioneering New York noise rock band with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon in 1981, is due to perform at the venue, on Cross Belgrave Street, on November 17.

He will be playing new songs from his soon-to-be released album Electric Trim, which he has produced with Spanish multi-instrumentalist Raul ‘Refree’ Fernandez.

Since Sonic Youth’s break-up in 2011 Ranaldo has made three solo albums. On the last two he was backed by the band The Dust whose members included Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and experimental musicians Jim O’Rourke and John Medeski.

With his partner Leah Singer he has also created large scale, multi-projection, often quadraphonic sound and light events, with Ranaldo performing ‘suspended guitar phenomena’ in various locations around the world.

He has also composed several orchestral works and his artworks and videos have been on view in the past couple of years in gallery and museum shows in the US, Europe and New Zealand.

A compendium of writings from 1995 to 2015 is said to be currently in the works.
