Topping up your hair colour and covering those roots is a costly and time-consuming business.

But now there is a new technique offering a subtle and enduring way to highlight hair. The Hollywood Colour Blend was created by celebrity hairdresser Catherine Boden. The technique uses up to 15 toners and shades and can last for up to six months.

However, there is a catch. Treatments take up to six hours, with prices from £250 upwards. House of Creation in Ripponden, near Halifax, is the first salon in Yorkshire to offer the new technique. Salon owner, Hayley Jennings, part of the Racoon International Artistic Team lead by Andrew Barton, said, “The Hollywood Colour Blend is a unique colouring technique designed to produce naturally blended hair colour with multiple tones, depth and highlights The process has several stages to strategically place highlights and lowlights, blended colours, toners and glosses. Because it is closer to the natural colour with blended highlights, maintenance is low and colouring (top-ups) only needs to be done twice a year.

Hayley’s tips for keeping colour fresh include not over-washing hair. “This may not seem possible after a workout but a water-only rinse will remove salt and sweat without stripping away the oils. A good shampoo will also allow less frequent washes.”
