Saving Grace: Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant’s new band to tour in our region
Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant’s new band Saving Grace has announced a Spring UK tour with exciting news for local fans.
The co-operative – also featuring Portuguese singing sensation Suzi Dian – will perform in our region. Special guest is Scott Matthews.
With his mane of long blonde curly hair and powerful, bare-chested appearance, Plant, helped to create the ‘god of rock and roll’ or ‘rock god’ archetype.
He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist with rock superstars Led Zeppelin, but formed Saving Grace in 2019.
The line-up includes industry veterans Tony Kelsey, on guitar and mandolin, Matt Worley on banjo and guitars, plus newcomer percussionist Oli Jefferson and singer Suzi Dian.
She shot to fame only recently, after lending her voice to the Saving Grace tour.
Laid-back and bluesy, with eastern and folk influences, expect an intimate mix of acoustic and electric sounds, with warm, close harmonies, often spiritual, accompanied and emotionally intense.
The diverse covers set – delivered in a style all its own – pays homage to America’s rich folk and blues traditions, plus so much more, creating a musical journey in its truest form.
Since forming in 2019, Saving Grace have received numerous acclaims for their live shows.
Whispering Bob Harris, host of the BBC2 music programme The Old Grey Whistle Test, called it ‘One of the best gigs I’ve seen in years’.
Toni Woodward, Americana UK, said: “These five musicians have produced a supreme 90 minutes of music with considered interpretations of others’ compositions, ensuring they present an innovative exploration of the songs whilst maintaining their true essence.
"Furthermore, this odyssey has been undertaken in the spirit of appreciation, musicianship, and exultation: they truly are a band of joy!”.
Starting at Bexhill De La Warr Pavilion on Friday, April 8, Saving Grace will tour some of the UK’s most striking and intimate theatres including London’s Hackney Empire.
As well as their full headline tour this Spring, Saving Grace will be performing at Bewdley Treetops Safari Park on Tuesday, April 19, and Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Friday, April 29, before culminating the run of live performances at Cheltenham Jazz Festival on Sunday, May 1.
