South American culture celebrated at festival in Leeds

LEEDS City centre shoppers had the opportunity to take time out to enjoy some South American music and food at an event in Millennium Square yesterday.

The second annual ¡Vamos! Festival, which celebrates Latino and Hispanic culture, was held in the city centre square.

Headliners Cuban Combination were due to make their northern debut at the event in Leeds, where they will also due to launch their first album.

Other artists included Brazilian samba rock octet AfroSamba, Brazilian singer Pilo Adami, Newcastle’s samba school DrumDin and samba group Hera Dance from Manchester.

The even was supported by Arts Council England and Leeds City Council.
