Handwritten Elvis notes set to fetch King’s ransom at auction of music memorabilia

Notes handwritten by Elvis Presley will be the star attraction at a rock and pop memorabilia sale next week.

The notes are expected to fetch thousands of pounds when they go under the hammer at Omega Auctions in Stockport on March 9.

They include Elvis’s poetic missive entitled Ode to a Robin, which features the line “As I awoke this morning when all sweet things are born, a robin perched on my window sill to greet the coming dawn.”

The poem is expected to fetch up to £3,500 and features alongside a copy of The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran owned by Elvis, complete with the iconic singer’s own notes inside, which could be sold for up to £3,000.

Also for sale at the auction are a signed Joy Division EP, which carries an estimate of up to £2,000 and a collection of 90 silver stars, etched with the names of showbiz legends including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Michael Caine, Tommy Cooper and Dame Judi Dench. The stars were created for a TV spectacular to celebrate ITV’s 50th birthday in 2005 and were placed on a walkway through Covent Garden.

The collection is estimated to fetch in the region of £5,000- £10,000.
