Pub of the Week: Crown & Anchor, Tickton
Last time I set foot in the Crown & Anchor it was not in fine fettle. About 18 months ago, though, serial pub renovator Mark Cross turned the Crown & Anchor into a very comfy, very tidy, well-run pub and restaurant.
The walls have gone Farrow & Ball, the furniture is distressed and bric-à-brac has been glued all over the shop. It works. And the food and drink offering is equally impressive. Along with local real ales, intriguing bottled beers and a decent wine list there are several menus featuring pub classics done well with plenty of local ingredients.

It’s great that I’ll be able to take my kids to jump off the bridge next summer and watch over them with a decent pint and a plate of grub.
