These are the rides that will stay closed when Lightwater Valley reopens this weekend

Lightwater Valley will reopen this weekend, but some of its biggest thrill rides will remain closed.

The emphasis will be on family rides at the Ripon theme park when it opens its doors on Saturday (July 18).

It will be operating with reduced capacity and all visitors will need to pre-book tickets online.

The Ultimate, Raptor Attack and Apollo will remain closed.

Face masks are compulsory on the following rides: Skyrider, Eagles Claw, Thunder Dome, Little Dipper, Dodgems, Labybird, Black Pearl, Flying Cutlass, Skull Rock and Powder Kegs.

Masks will be available to buy on site.

Queue markers and extra cleaning measures will also be in place.

General Manager Colin Bowes said: “We’re delighted to be able to start welcoming visitors back but we also know how crucial it is that they feel safe.

“We’ve allowed ourselves a little extra time to ensure everything is fully in place for opening on the 18th and we’re confident we’ve been able to accommodate a range of protective measures without compromising the visitor experience.

“For this summer to help us manage visitor numbers and keep everyone safe, we are focusing on running the rides and parts of the Park which are more suited to a younger family audience

“While most of the rides will be open we are keeping The Ultimate, Raptor Attack and Apollo ride closed. The indoor play areas will also be closed at this time."

Visitors will also be encouraged to leave plenty of space around their vehicles in the car park.

Some catering facilities and the gift shop will be open and use of contactless card payments is advised whenever possible.

Anyone showing symptoms is asked to stay at home and reschedule their visit.
