IT is very magnanimous of you (The Yorkshire Post, January 25) to acknowledge the scale of the logistical operation now well under way by the Government and NHS, and which has seen over six million people vaccinated up to last weekend.

It is a pity that comment was not left at that point to allow those involved in the supply and administration of the vaccine to gradually expand on the excellent work done so far in matching supplies to patients in an organised manner, and on a grand scale.

It would appear that volunteers, plus GPs and some pharmacies, are being gradually brought in to assist, but further criticism will evolve if there are any hiccoughs in the supply chain resulting in nominal supplies only being left over for small outlets after the main vaccinators have received their bulk requirements.

It is vital also that the number of those vaccinated is fairly even across the various districts of the UK so that, hopefully, we can all come out of this together – otherwise we will see reappearance of the tier systems forbidding the public from moving between tiers. If we seek a levelling up from south to north, we ought to set the example for our fellow citizens in the South pending further increases in supplies.
