Plant of the week: Cape honeysuckle

Cape honeysuckle (Tecomaria capensis): Perhaps not unsurprisingly, also known as '˜ladies' fingers'.

It’s an evergreen shrub which manages to hang on to other plants, walls, anything, to help drag itself off the ground.

The dark green leaves are put to shame by the vivid flowers that have slender curved tubes.

If you have an incredibly mild, sheltered garden, it’s worth trying to grow this semi-tropical gem; otherwise, grow it in a container and bring it indoors every winter.
