Letter: Beverley MP fought for good schools

In the heat of the row over academies, credit should go to Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart for persuading ministers to adopt a sensible compromise.

Although he is a Government MP, he has consistently argued that good schools doing a good job under local authority control should be allowed to get on with the job and was even quoted at Prime Minister’s Questions by Jeremy Corbyn for doing so.

Graham, a former chairman of the Education Select Committee has a continuing interest in education and it is refreshing to see a dedicated MP prepared to stand up for what he believes is right and get things changed if they need changing, not just parroting a party line.
