Goodison in contention
The reigning Laser gold medallist’s regatta had looked in danger on Tuesday when the problem picked up in the second race of London 2012 worsened.
Goodison was in obvious pain as he came off the water in tears, but, having responded well to treatment overnight, managed to line up with the rest of the fleet in Weymouth Bay in the afternoon.

Hide AdThe Sheffield-born sailor went on to post impressive fourth and ninth-place finishes, meaning he ended Yorkshire Day in sixth.
When told of his position in the standings, Goodison said: “I didn’t realise that. That’s better than expected.
“I owed it to all the guys that got me back together last night to go out there and give it my all.
“For me, it was more a case of trying to keep myself in the regatta. We’re at the halfway stage now, with four more races and the medal race to go, and you’ve still got to give yourself every chance.
“A bit of northern grit is what I needed.”
