Louis Senior heads back to Huddersfield Giants after failing to feature for Hull KR

Huddersfield Giants have recalled Louis Senior from his loan spell at Hull KR after Jermaine McGillvary joined the casualty list last week.

Senior linked up with the Robins two weeks ago, initially on loan before making the move permanent at the end of the season.

However, the outside back did not feature against Hull FC or Wakefield Trinity and is now heading back to his parent club, meaning he must wait until 2023 for his Rovers debut.

Interim Hull KR head coach Danny McGuire said: "It's a bit of a shame, to be honest.

"The thought process behind it was to integrate him into the surroundings more with a focus on next year, with him potentially playing this year as well.

"He trained well and wouldn't have been far off a place this week. Hopefully he goes back to Huddersfield and gets some game time there."

Huddersfield were forced to act after losing McGillvary to a knee injury in the defeat against St Helens.

The Giants have yet to determine the full extent of the issue but Ian Watson feared the worst in the aftermath of the game at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Watson was down to his last 18 fit and available players last week with Ricky Leutele, Tui Lolohea and Chris Hill among the names on the injury list.
