Business celebrities exchange words over show’s dogs’ dinner

The pair feature in Channel 4’s new show, Hotel GB, which sees two teams of celebrities running a hotel with paying guests in an attempt to help the unemployed trainees on the staff it find long-term employment.

Ramsay leads one team with the other led by retail expert Mary Portas, while Devey will run the hotel shop.

The businesswoman, who said she gets “on with everybody”, promised she would not let Ramsay get away with bad language.

She said: “I shall bring with me a thesaurus and a dictionary because by the end of the week I hope to teach Gordon some new words instead of the F-word.

“I think it’s unnecessary isn’t it? The English language is very beautiful and there are other words you can use that are far more articulate and far more eloquent.”

She also said she would insist Ramsay cooked “a set menu” for her twin teacup Yorkshire terriers Mixie and Dixie, who enjoy a diet of liver and kidneys.

All the money spent at the hotel, in Bermondsey, south-east London, will be split between two charities.

Dry runs for the show, which starts at 9pm on Monday, have been fiery after a row broke out between a group of guests and Ramsay over the food.

Ramsay, who said they “turned Hotel GB into Hotel GBH”, predicted he would also be having words with Devey.

He said: “How dare she turn up to Hotel GB in a f****** Rolls-Royce.

“It’s outside with a private plate on.

“Firstly, we don’t have dogs in the restaurant and secondly, guaranteed by the time it gets dark half those f****** wheels are going to be missing and I’m going to go outside and pee my pants, even the dogs are going to be on bricks.”

Ramsay has become notorious for his bad language since joining the ranks of “celebrity chefs” with a series of television shows, in addition to his upmarket restaurant ventures.

Devey has gained celebrity status after joining the BBC Dragon’s Den show.
