Food Matters: Brewery wins MPs' vote

A Yorkshire brewery is celebrating a vote of confidence.

From this month, West Yorkshire-based Little Valley Brewery will have one of its beers in the House of Commons Strangers' Bar. The Calderdale company's Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale is listed as a guest beer.

The regional Minister for Yorkshire and the Humber Rosie Winterton MP, and deputy regional Minister Jeff Ennis, were introduced to Little Valley Brewery at a recent deliciouslyorkshire event to celebrate the best producers in the region.

They were so impressed with the Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale, that it was requested for the House of Commons bar.

Little Valley Brewery co-owner Sue Cooper says: "This is a fantastic achievement for us. All our beers are 100 per cent organic and certified by the Soil Association and the Vegan Society – plus, this particular pale ale is our first to carry the Fairtrade mark. We hope that our politicians will enjoy a toast or two of our quality Yorkshire ale over the next couple of months."

Rosie Winterton MP says: "I was introduced to Little Valley Brewery earlier this year and I was very impressed with the ambition and commitment of the owners."

The Fairtrade Ginger Pale Ale will soon be stocked in all Booths stores, and is already available at a selection of Waitrose stores and from www.littlevalleybrewery.co.uk
