Food Matters: Indulgent menus now on offer

CELEBRATE the festive season in style at the charismatic New Ellington which re-opened in September with a new owner after 18 months closure.

The 35-luxury bedroomed New Ellington, pays tribute to Duke Ellington who played at Leeds's 1958 music festival. This year introduces two indulgent new Christmas menus for both lunchtime parties and evening soirees. Created using local ingredients, an array of decadent dishes will be served in the hotel's art-deco inspired restaurant.

The head chef, Yorkshireman James Cooper, is renowned in the area for bringing success to several local restaurants through his style of mixing the contemporary with classic British and Mediterranean dishes. Hunt for Britain's best dish

ITV1's nationwide cooking competition to find the country's most mouth-watering dish is targeting the North of England in its search for Britain's Best Dish.

Last year saw Jonathon Davies from Leeds scoop the 10,000 first prize with a sumptuous dish of Seared Masala Spring Lamb. Auditions are on Sunday January 23 and anyone who would like to be considered for the auditions should contact [email protected] or call 09011 22 33 11.
