Health Matters: A giant step to say thank-you

A Sheffield mother will be donning her running shoes to raise money for a local charity which is close to her heart.

Lynne Griffiths, from Richmond, is set to take part in the Neurocare Head Start 5k event, on Sunday, to raise funds for the charity which supports the Neurosciences Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Lynne has been a loyal supporter of Neurocare since her son, Shaun, underwent surgery and treatment at the hospital 11 years ago following a brain aneurism.

Shaun spent several days in intensive care and months undertaking rehabilitation and physiotherapy following the burst aneurism, which left him with limited movement in the left side of his body.

Joining Lynne on the start line will be Shaun and his partner, Natalie, along with other members of her family and friends.

The Neurocare Head Start 5k is at Rother Valley Country Park starting at 10am. The event is open to all ages and entrants can walk, jog or run round the course.

Race entry is 10 per person. Under-18s must take part with a supervisory adult and under fives can enter for free.
