Time to face the music for a very good cause

A 12-hour "mega mix" of musicals is taking place this month to raise money for children with cancer.

Offering a perfect antidote to the World Cup, the Approach PR is hosting the marathon of musicals – or the "Musicalathon" – at Bradford Playhouse on Friday, June 18.

They have pledged to raise funds for cancer care charity Candlelighters which has directly supported two of Approach PR's close friends.

Managing director Suzanne Johns said: "We personally know of two children diagnosed with leukaemia in the last two years. As a business we annually support a charity close to our hearts and this year, we unanimously agreed it had to be Candlelighters and wanted to kick start our fundraising with something memorable, fun and different!"

The Musicalathon invites people of all ages to watch back-to-back musicals including Grease, Mamma Mia and The Rocky Horror Picture Show from 8pm to 8am.

"Admittedly we are indulging our guilty pleasure because we're all massive musicals fans," continued Suzanne. "But we've never had to stay awake and watch them throughout the night and thought this would be a hilarious challenge and something lots of people could enjoy!"

Candlelighters administrator Pauline Jolley said: "Candlelighters supports the Regional Children and Adolescent Cancer and Leukaemia Unit in Leeds. Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust are moving the unit to Leeds General Infirmary. We are determined that the facilities in the new unit will be at least as good as, and hopefully better, than the current facilities here at Jimmy's. But to do this we need to raise an additional 500,000."

The Musicalathon is at Bradford Playhouse on Friday, June 18 from 8pm to 8am. Tickets are 15 and can from www.digyorkshire. co.uk or Becky at Approach PR on 01274 722552.
