Video: Ashley Jackson gives London kids a lesson in Yorkshire landscape art
The painter, who has a studio in Holmfirth, hosted a visit by children from Battersea in London, many of whom had never set foot outside the capital before.
Pupils from St Mary’s RC Primary enjoyed a one-off art tutorial aboard a Grand Central train before travelling to Holmfirth.

Jared Brading, head teacher of St Mary’s, said: “Many of our pupils have never travelled outside of London and so this is a unique opportunity to give them the chance to not only learn from a talented artist but also experience a place with truly inspiring scenery.”
Jackson said: “My passion has always been to encourage others to enjoy being creative but also to gain inspiration from everything they see around them.
“To work with young children from London is a fantastic opportunity, for not only will it allow them to see landscape they have possibly not viewed before but will also allow me to see it as if for the first time again through their eyes.”
