Video: Now appearing in a field near you - the Singing Farmers

tickets are on sale for a series of gigs featuring The Singing Farmers, with proceeds from the shows going to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

Over the last 11 years the performances have raised more than £100,000 for charity.

The Singing Farmers consists of cattle breeder Ken Jackson, fellow farmers Charles Marwood and Tony Richards, farm supply shop owner Phillip Holden, keyboard player Lloyd Lockwood and Country Week contributor Chris Berry.

Mr Jackson said: “We never thought we’d have been going as long as this. We’ve managed to raise a lot of money for a very good cause and the concerts have become a great social event, but eventually like all good things it will have to come to an end and we’re thinking that we’ll maybe squeeze in just one more year after this and then that will be it.

“If that happens we will finish on our 50th concert which will be a nice landmark to achieve.

“We’ve all had a wonderful time entertaining our largely rural audiences although anyone can come and we’re looking forward to this year’s shows.”

The Singing Farmers will perform at The Forum, Northallerton on May 8 at 7.30pm; The Mart Theatre, Skipton on May 10 at 2.30pm; The Milton Rooms, Malton on May 17 at 2.30pm. Tickets are £13.
