Video: Oriental paradise at Chatsworth

It may seem an unlikely pairing, but an installation from renowned Chinese sculptor Tao Hua Yuan at Derbyshire’s Chatsworth estate have proved a heavenly match.

Littered with orchids and trinkets from his native country, the work, entitled Tao Hua Yuan : A Lost Village Utopia, transforms part of the Derbyshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire into a little piece of oriental paradise.

The installation is part of the new Beyond Limits exhibition which will see more than 20 works by other major artists from across the world including Marc Quinn and Christopher Le Brun displayed in the vast

Beginning on Monday and running until October 26, it features Antony Gormley’s Construct II, an iconic figure sculpture by internationally acclaimed sculptor and Turner prize winner.

Curated by Sotheby’s, the exhibition of ‘monumental, contemporary, outdoor sculpture’ also boasts a wealth of landmark works from established modern masters such as Aristide Maillol, Eduardo Chillida, and Baltasar Lobo, on open display around the 105-acre garden.
