Welcome in the spring

Almost there. Harrogate's spring flower show is just a matter of days away and, hopefully, it will be a riot of colour and scent – a show which gardeners and non-gardeners alike will welcome with open arms after the long and bitter winter.

The show (April 22-25) is the first major independent horticultural show of the season and will boast more than 100 of the country's leading horticultural nurseries, all exhibiting and competing for Best in Show and the NEHS Trophy. The Wakefield & North of England Tulip Society joins the Daffodil Society to put on two spectacular shows in the Plant Societies marquee, while many national plant societies will have exhibits, demonstrations and information. There will also be floristry and flower arranging, a cookery theatre, garden design competition and all the usual garden sundries.
