All mod cons for students as college unveils new £6m halls of residence

STUDENTS will soon be moving into a new £6m halls of residence building after work was completed on a 198-bed complex.

The new All Saints Court scheme, at Leeds Trinity University College's main campus, in Brownberrie Lane, Horsforth, includes a spilt-level,

L-shaped building and 10 bedrooms adapted specifically for students with disabilities.

The en-suite bedrooms are arranged into flats of six, each with its own shared kitchen.

In order to fast-track the building process, construction firm Morgan Sindall used cranes to lift pre-fabricated bathroom pods and position them in the bedrooms prior to the walls taking shape.

The project is the second student housing complex that Morgan Sindall, based in Garforth, has completed in Leeds this summer after building a 460-bed scheme for Leeds University.

Chris Brown, Morgan Sindall area director, said: "We are passionate about delivering accommodation of the highest standard for students and we are confident this new complex will provide comfortable and modern living space.

"We have considerable experience of undertaking this type of project. The completion of this scheme means that we have successfully delivered 1,100 en-suite student residences in Yorkshire over the past three years."

Prof Freda Bridge, principal and chief executive at Leeds Trinity University College, added: "We're very excited about the new development to the Leeds Trinity campus. The project will create an inspiring, modern learning environment for our staff and students to work in."

The completion of All Saints Court is the first phase of a number of major building developments to help build a sustainable campus village at Leeds Trinity University College.
