All systems GoGo as firm aims to add 100 jobs

SOCIAL media specialist GoGo Social said it is expecting to create nearly 100 new jobs in Leeds in the next year.

GoGo Social is targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with its social media service that allows them to build and manage a social media audience.

Joint managing directors and owners of the business, Andy Lenney and Charlie Eckart, who come from a marketing background, launched the company towards the end of last year.

GoGo Social currently has 10 staff but expects this figure to increase to more than 100 over the next 12 months.

The company already has the space available to expand its team.

Mr Lenney said: “Every account requires a lot of account management, so as a consequence as we bring on new accounts we have to have new staff joining the business to service those clients so it’s growing quickly.”

GoGo Social acts as a hub for its clients’ social media networks, so they use the firm’s in-house team to manage their social media presence.

“We have a team which effectively acts as the surrogate marketing arm of our clients. So we are talking on behalf of our clients across various social networks. We are stimulating conversations and we’re trying to build a social buzz really.”

GoGo Social works with a wide range of businesses from its base in Leeds. Customers range from online retailers to accountancy firms and national sporting bodies.

It offers a range of services from building social media profiles, audience development and relationship building to managing enquiries and reputation management.

Mr Lenney said: “Unlike many automated offers on the market today, we provide a dedicated account manager to every client who builds a strong understanding of the business and its audience.

“Our trials have already proven that social media provides a cost effective way to build brand awareness and sales. We have found that the majority of our customers stay with us after our four-week free trial.”

Mr Lenney said he became “deeply interested in the internet” about five years ago when he co-founded BigWardrobe.com, which acts as a fashion exchange for users who can swap and sell clothes, shoes and accessories. It now operates in more than 150 countries.
