Appointments: Accountant is named as new finance chief

Chartered accountant Hart Shaw has appointed Steve Bell as the new head of corporate finance.

Mr Bell, who has been a member of the corporate finance team since October 2008, will now head the department at the Sheffield-based firm.

Walker Morris law firm in Leeds has promoted three new partners and five new directors.

The new partners are: Andrew Rayment (employment), Ben Sheppard (commercial) and Louise Power (real estate and banking litigation).

The new directors are: Andrew Johnson (commercial dispute resolution), Andrew Northage (regulatory), Marshal Ahluwalia (insurance litigation), Martin McKeague (real estate and banking litigation) and Robert Moore (planning).

Commercial property agent, GVA, has recruited a new director. Matthew Tootell joins the Leeds national markets team as director of offices and will sit on a 12-strong board of directors.

Mr Tootell’s career spans 12 years including experience within DTZ, Savills, Peter Lund & Partners. He was also investment director at Monument Investments.

Exchange Chambers has continued its fast-paced expansion in Leeds by welcoming three QCs as door tenants. Dafydd Enoch QC, Cairns Nelson QC and Eleanor Laws QC are all criminal specialists in London.

A door tenant is a barrister who has been granted permission to join a set of chambers and work with them from premises outside the chambers themselves.

Property firm Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed Tom Farley as a marketing account manager and Ali Johnson as senior account manager to its retail marketing team in Leeds. Mr Farley has joined from Land Securities, while Ms Johnson joined from creative agency Raw Creative.
