In recent years, Armstrong Watson has grown to become one of the largest independent chartered accountants and financial advisers in Yorkshire.

The company was founded 146 years ago, and now has 15 offices in the North of England and Scotland, with a combined turnover of more than £20m. Five staff from Hanby & Co have joined Armstrong Watson’s Northallerton office, bringing the total staff numbers there to 20.

The combined team will be headed by Armstrong Watson’s Northallerton lead partner Peter Molyneux, who will be supported by Hanby & Co partners Ian Cartwright and Peter Brierley.

Armstrong Watson’s managing partner Paul Dickson said: “Hanby & Co is a well respected firm in Northallerton and both Ian and Peter have run a good practice with a very loyal client following.

“The combined knowledge from both offices will help in continuing to develop Armstrong Watson’s position in Northallerton and the Yorkshire region, and I know we will have a strengthened team focused on providing private individuals, fast-growing start-ups and established businesses with the right financial advice”.

Mr Molyneux added: “Both firms have built up strong and professional reputations in Northallerton.”

He said Armstrong Watson planned to grow organically, and was also open to the possibility of further acquisitions.
