Bailey wins £2.7m train station deal

The rail division of building services group NG Bailey has won a £2.7m contract to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services for Network Rail’s redevelopment of Manchester Victoria station.

The Ilkley-based company, which was awarded the contract by construction firm Morgan Sindall, will also install the CCTV, fire alarm systems and help points throughout the retail areas of the station.

In addition, it will help to construct the innovative roof structure that will allow for future expansion of the station.

The team will be faced with the challenge of carrying out all work whilst maintaining a fully operational station.

The contract, which is due for completion in early 2015, is part of Network Rail’s strategy for the North. The work is aimed at making the station safer, brighter and more spacious.

Chris Raven, managing director of NG Bailey’s rail division, said: “This is an exciting and challenging project, which allows us to demonstrate our skills and expertise in the rail sector.”
