Belgravium wins order for its ‘tough’ computers

MOBILE computer firm Belgravium Technologies has won an order for 250 of its newly-launched TouchPC Hawk rugged computers, which it claims can be used safely in “explosive environments”.

The group, listed on the Alternative Investment Market, said its subsidiary Touchstar Technologies won the contract from an unnamed client, after initially designing it for fuel distributors.

The Bradford-based firm did not disclose the value of the contract, which will be delivered in the second half of the year.

Executive chairman John Kembery said: “We have a history at Belgravium of developing products to incorporate the very latest technologies and design features so that they will improve the efficiencies and operating practices of our clients.

“The Hawk is a perfect example, where the TouchStar team, through their market research identified a strong demand for a reliable single, multi-functional device, which could be used in-vehicle and out-vehicle and to which they have added a wide range of innovative extra features.

“I’m delighted to say that it has met with immediate demand and we are confident this will continue.”

The Hawk is a touch-controlled tablet computer encased in lightweight plastic alloy, which the company said provides “full protection against dust, water and oil... allowing safe use even in potentially explosive environments”.
