If the queues for the very first restaurant to open at the new shopping/cinema complex at the former Beales store site in Harrogate are anything to go by, the new development could be a hit.

The tailback of customers went into Albert Street on Saturday afternoon at Yo Sushi, the first of the new restaurants opening as part of the £10 million development.

As for the centrepiece of the project - Everyman cinema - it looks unlikely to be ready before September, owners of this pizza mnd sofas, comfort-focused cinema chain say.

But when it does finally open it will be a sizable one - with five screens over three floors.

With its ground floor alone offering 2,238 sq ft of space, the new development has proven popular with tenants.

Other restuarants preparing to open shortly at the ex-Beales store site include Ask, Byron Burger, CAU, and Veeno, the Italian Wine Cafe.
