Billington FD to say farewell

THE finance director of structural steel group Billington Holdings is retiring after 22 years with the company.

Peter Hart, 63, will stand down from the Barnsley-based group in December. He will be replaced by Trevor Taylor, 29, finance director of Billington’s Marshall steel staircase division.

Billington, which supplied structural steel to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, is struggling through a depressed UK market. It said Mr Taylor was key to a deal in March to buy Leeds-based Marshall via a pre-pack administration.

Chief executive Steve Fareham said: “The board would like to thank Peter for his 22 years of dedication and hard work which contributed to the growth of the company.

“We will miss Peter both personally and professionally and would like to wish him well in his retirement but we look forward to welcoming Trevor to the board.

“Trevor joined Billington three years ago and was instrumental in the acquisition of Peter Marshall Steel Stairs. Billington prides itself in investing in our staff and promoting people from within. I am in no doubt that Trevor’s experience and knowledge of the company will ensure a smooth transition.”

Mr Taylor worked for Allotts Chartered Accountants for five years before joining Billington in 2008.
