Alan Halsall told The Yorkshire Post that the Skipton pram maker should see revenues of £28m-£29m for the year ending December 2014. Profits will be up by six or seven times, he added.

The nursery market was disrupted by Morrisons in 2013 following its acquisition of Kiddicare and subsequent store opening programme, said Mr Halsall. But Morrisons then quit the sector, notching up a heavy writedown in the process.

Mr Halsall, 60, said Silver Cross has a great brand with strong heritage and modern design.

The company expanded into Hong Kong five years ago and opened in mainland China last year.

Silver Cross hosted a launch event in Shanghai last week, said Mr Halsall.

He added: “Mums love whether they live in Shanghai, Melbourne or Leeds.”
