Bridlington development with 122 homes and its own restaurant and hair salon given green light
East Riding Council has given the green light for the project, featuring 54 affordable homes and 68 extra care apartments for over 55s, off Pinfold Lane. Esh Construction land director Laura Devaney said the properties would help provide more later life living options as the population ages.
The approval comes ahead of works on the site which are expected to begin early next year. The development will be made up of a three-storey extra care building with one and two-bedroom apartments, along with community facilities.

A total of 26 of the homes will be built with timber frames as part of plans to use modern construction methods. The complex will also feature a residents’ lounge, along with an on-site restaurant and hair salon.
Esh Construction stated the development would allow people to live independently in their own home while accessing on-site care and support if they need it. The complex will be jointly managed by providers Yorkshire Housing and Housing 21.
Ms Daveney said Esh Construction was delighted its scheme has been given the go ahead. She said: “This land led scheme has been long in the making.

The development in Bridlington is an exciting project and we look forward to getting work underway next year.”
Kathryn Gare, of Yorkshire Housing, stated that the development would help bring them closer to their target of building 8,000 new affordable homes. The head of acquisitions said: “We’re delighted that planning has been granted for our latest project on Pinfold Road, Bridlington, where we’ll be building 54 new homes in partnership with Esh, as well an extra care apartment block for Housing 21, when finished. This site will provide over 50 families high-quality affordable homes.”
Meanwhile, Deborah Hope, of Housing 21, felt the project would be a great addition to the local economy. The head of development said: “We are delighted that planning has been approved and look forward to working in partnership with Esh, who we have already collaborated with on three developments across the North.
“Our new Extra Care scheme at Pinfold Lane, will provide much needed, high-quality accommodation to support local older people and their changing needs as well as being a great addition to the local economy. Pinfold Lane is our second Extra Care scheme in the East Riding.”
