Britool opens second front with new range

DURING the dark days of 1940, the British Tool and Engineering Company provided vital supplies for the war effort.

Britool – as the company is better known – was the main provider of tools to the British Army during the Second World War.

Altogether, the company provided 200 million wrenches, sockets and accessories to the Army during the conflict.

The Britool brand is still around today, and it aims to win a larger share of the UK tool market.

Sheffield-based Britool Expert will launch more than 1,200 products to the professional market in April.

The products have been re-designed by the design team at Facom, one of Europe’s biggest hand tool brands.

Britool, which has 100 staff in Sheffield, is part of the Stanley Black and Decker Group.

Liam Kettlewell, the project manager for Britool Expert, said: “This new launch is just the first step of our vision for the Expert brand.”

The Britool Expert website will launch in March and the new product range will be available to customers from the following month.

In 1991, Britool merged with Facom, which is Europe’s largest hand tool manufacturer.

In 2006, Britool and the Facom group merged with Stanley – the world’s largest supplier of tools.
