BSkyB to create 550 jobs as customer demand rises

Since then, the multi-channel format has expanded to include hundreds of channels.

The company’s leading channels are Sky Sports, Sky News, Sky1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic and Sky Arts 1 and 2, the only channels in the UK and Ireland dedicated to the arts.

In addition to its wholly-owned channels, Sky is also a shareholder in a number of joint venture channels.

These include The History Channel, The Biography Channel, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, National Geographic Channel and Attheraces.

Sky invests around £2bn a year in its channels.
