Capita takes Technophobia under its wing for £6.3m

Outsourcing giant Capita swooped yesterday for Sheffield IT firm Technophobia in a deal worth £6.3m.

The web app developer, founded in 1995, employs 70 staff and last year had a turnover of £4.2m.

Clients include Co-operative Bank, Pizza Express and the Technology Strategy Board.

Emma Marshall, managing director, said: “Becoming part of the Capita Group offers us fantastic new opportunities and greater resource to support our plans to grow the business while allowing us to retain our own unique character and creative approach to business solutions.”

The acquisition, by the FTSE-100 group’s IT services division, could lead to expansion inside and outside Yorkshire, added a spokeswoman.
