Carclo confident of further progress

TECHNICAL plastics group Carclo said it expects to make further progress this year driven by growth in its medical diagnostics and lighting businesses.

The Ossett-based group said it traded in line with its expectations in its financial year to the end of March.

Carclo said its technical plastics arm enjoyed a good final quarter, with operating profits more than 10 per cent ahead of last year.

Its precision products division delivered a much stronger second-half performance, thanks to ramping up production on several of its supercar lighting programmes.

The group’s aerospace businesses had a solid year with profitability ahead of the previous year, it added.

Carlco’s Conductive Inkjet Technology (CIT) division “continues to make significant progress towards commercialisation”. It is confident that its Cambridge facility will be production-ready by June, with the first volume production to start later this year.

It added pre-tax profits will be slightly enhanced by a pensions credit. Group debt will also be slightly higher than originally expected because of increased investment in CIT and growth in its supercar lighting business.
