Chef now the master of his own destiny

THE former head chef at Harvey Nichols in Leeds has invested over £90,000 in a new public house and restaurant venture creating 12 new jobs.

Paul Cunliffe and his wife Janine have opened The Dunsforth, formerly known as The Angler, in Lower Dunsforth, between Harrogate and York, following a 13-week refurbishment programme.

Mr Cunliffe reached the quarter-finals on BBC’s Master Chef the Professionals 2012.

He said: “I’ve been in this business for over 16 years and during my career, I have led some of the great kitchens of North Yorkshire including Hazelwood Castle and Aldwark Manor.

“I have aspired to have my own restaurant for many years now, and our determination and hard work has culminated in the opening of The Dunsforth.”

He added: “We have a very unique style and approach which is decisive and distinct and we hope to attract people from across the whole of Yorkshire to sample our food and hospitality.”
