Chris Burn of The Yorkshire Post receives major accolade at Headlinemoney awards
Chris Burn, head of business and features at The Yorkshire Post, has been voted the Local/Regional Journalist of the Year at the Headlinemoney.co.uk awards 2023. Judges said Mr Burn’s award entry showed a real breadth of expertise and he displayed a knack of finding stories “that not only resonate regionally but nationally too”.
Freelance journalist Peter Ranscombe, was highly commended for his work with the Scottish Field magazine. Mr Burn’s colleague, Greg Wright, the deputy business editor of The Yorkshire Post, was also on the shortlist in this category, alongside Emma Newlands, of The Scotsman/Scotland on Sunday and Jon Robinson, of BusinessLive/Manchester Evening News.

Hide AdMr Wright picked up the award on Mr Burn’s behalf from Paul Keeble, the head of media and PR at category sponsor Canada Life and awards host Ayesha Hazarika MBE at a ceremony held at the Brewery in the City of London which attracted leading figures from the worlds of financial journalism, public relations and financial services.


Other award winners on the night included Felicity Hannah, the freelance financial journalist and columnist.
Commenting on his award win, Mr Burn said: “I’m really delighted to have won Headlinemoney’s Local/Regional Journalist of the Year prize. Being shortlisted alongside my great colleague Greg Wright was an honour in itself so to actually win was a lovely surprise. It is the third time in six years that The Yorkshire Post business team has won at these prestigious national awards - highlighting how fortunate I am to be part of such a great team.
"It was also great to see Sarah Coles of Hargreaves Lansdown and a weekly Yorkshire Post columnist win in the Expert of the Year category.”
