Company helps ex-offenders get second chance

Winder Power Ltd, manufacturer of power and distribution transformers based in Pudsey, Leeds, has been supporting the charity since its establishment in 2012.

Of the three employees, the first taken on through the charity has been with Winder Power as a fitter / stock-handler for over three years, having joined in February 2013, following a work placement in January 2012 as part of his rehabilitation.

The second took up a permanent role in October 2014 as a trainee winder, while the third and most recent recruit joined last month as a trainee coil winder. All three have been given a fresh start, with the opportunity to positively turn their lives around.

Winder Power, along with a growing number of partner companies throughout the UK, has supported the Leeds based charity since its establishment in 2014, and has to date recruited three ex-offenders through the Tempus Novo programme, all of whom were offered full-time employment with the company.

One of the three employees who has been with Winder Power for two years, said: “This job has helped me turn my life around. They made me look at myself differently and with the support of my mentor I managed to break the cycle of crime. “I have now been with Winder Power for two years and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
