Croda to appoint new chairman

Natural chemicals firm Croda is to appoint Lloyds’ deputy chairman Anita Frew as its new chairman when Martin Flower retires in September.

Ms Frew has joined the Snaith-based company as a non-executive director and chairman designate.

She was on the board of Victrex, the speciality chemicals company, for 14 years, including six years as chairman. She is currently deputy chairman of Lloyds Banking Group and senior independent director of IMI.

On joining the board, Ms Frew will be appointed to the nomination and remuneration committees and she will succeed Martin Flower as chairman of the nominations committee in September 2015.

Mr Flower said: “Anita’s depth of boardroom experience and strong understanding of the speciality chemicals sector will be of enormous benefit to Croda. I am delighted to be handing over the reins to someone with such impeccable credentials. I am very pleased to welcome Anita to the Board and look forward to working closely with her over the coming months.”

Ms Frew added: “I feel tremendous affinity with Croda given the Group’s strong focus on innovation, R&D and new product development for its global customer base. It is an exceptionally well managed and invested business and I look forward to working with the senior team and building on the good growth momentum that has been achieved in 2014.”
