Dales firm wins renewables contract

A NORTH Yorkshire-based training provider has secured a contract to administer a Government fund that will help installers roll out a key part of the Government’s renewable energy drive.

GTEC Training, of Hawes, has been appointed by the Department of Energy and Climate Change to administer the major national grant funding programme.

The department has committed to distribute £500,000 to help installer companies train staff to deal with heat producing renewable technologies.

It supports the launch of the domestic renewable heat incentive scheme due to start next spring.

The domestic RHI will enable householders to receive a seven-year income for the heat they generate from technologies such as solar thermal, heat pumps or biomass installations.

GTEC, based on the Upper Wensleydale Business Park, specialises in providing electrical, renewable, DEA, OFTEC and apprenticeship training along with specifically-tailored programs and IT solutions for the building service industry.
