Deadline is extended for science prize
THE deadline has been extended for a competition offering free access to innovative new technology that could help accelerate scientific research in the region.
York-based Aptamer Solutions, which develops molecular devices known as aptamers for use in life-sciences research, is offering £50,000 worth of aptamer selection services as a competition prize at the one-day BioYorkshire 2012 event in York on December 5.
“Aptamers are fast becoming a replacement for antibodies in all kinds of scientific applications, from diagnostics to targeted therapeutics,” said the company. Competition entrants must be based in the UK, conducting biotech-based research and have at least one representative at BioYorkshire 2012. They must also register their idea by the new deadline of noon on Thursday.
