Digital summit to highlight new business avenues

A CONFERENCE bringing world-class digital experts to Yorkshire promises to help business leaders learn how they can harness technology to gain competitive advantage.

Hull Digital Live (HDLive) 2012, being staged at the University of Hull on November 1, will focus on how digital platforms and technology are transforming consumer behaviour and opening up new ways to do business.

The headline speaker is Evan Davis, presenter of the BBC TV business reality show Dragons’ Den and Radio 4 business discussion programme The Bottom Line, who will talk about the economics of technology.

Another of the speakers is mobile technology guru Horace Dediu, who has been dubbed ‘King of the Apple analysts’ by Fortune Maga- zine.

He will share his knowledge of how companies can respond to the explosion in internet usage via smartphones and tablet devices.

The conference has grown out of the Hull Digital community founded by Jon Moss, owner of East Yorkshire digital marketing business theappleofmyi.

He said: “Digital technology is becoming ever more important as a driver of business growth – indeed it can be the vital factor giving companies an edge over their competitors.

“We’ve assembled a world-class programme of speakers who will give business leaders and entrepreneurs fantastic insights into changing consumer behaviours and the power of digital platforms to engage with customers efficiently, effectively and profitably.”

HDLive is being staged with the support of the University of Hull, communications provider KC and property development and investment company Wykeland, and will showcase the city as the centre of a growing digital and technology sector. Several leading Yorkshire businesses will be represented at the event.

Ian Hodges, managing director of East Yorkshire property development and investment business Horncastle Group, said the event would enable the business to keep pace with change.
