Experienced leader takes the helm at legal firm’s city office

Sarah Day has taken the helm at legal firm DLA Piper Leeds in her new role as office managing partner.

Ms Day, who is head of the Leeds finance and projects team and a member of DLA Piper’s international board, will replace Neil McLean who has retired after 12 years in the role.

She has over 20 years experience in the legal arena and joined DLA Piper in 1998 as a partner.

DLA Piper said Ms Day is an experienced leader who has a clear understanding of the region’s commercial challenges and opportunities.

Ms Day said: “I feel enormously proud and privileged to be taking over the position of managing partner for Leeds.

“With a considerable track record for growth and adaptability, we are building on very strong foundations to further develop our offering and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

“I am fortunate to work with, and have the support of, some of the region’s most talented legal practitioners and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of our Leeds office as we move into the future.”

DLA Piper said Ms Day is an experienced finance lawyer, whose particular expertise lies in structured corporate and cross border deals, including leveraged transactions, capital markets deals, asset-based lending and project finance.

In a statement the law firm said: “Key to her new role is that her work has brought her into contact with all the areas of law and specialism offered through DLA Piper Leeds.

“The firm is ranked highly by the industry-recognised Legal 500 and Chambers in all disciplines.”
