Fibrelite secures Asia Pacific oil deal

A SKIPTON engineering firm has won a four-year contract with a leading oil major in Asia Pacific.

Fibrelite will supply sumps and manhole covers to Malaysia’s Petronas.

The parts will help Petronas eliminate the risk of fuel contamination at its service stations.

Fibrelite will manufacture the parts at its new factory in Kuala Lumpur. Ian Thompson, managing director, said: “Our local manufacturing facilities allow us to supply a consistently premium product at highly competitive rates so we can pass on cost savings to our customers.”

Petronas executives visited the Malaysia factory in July and the Yorkshire factory last month to assess the company-wide manufacturing facilities and quality standards before awarding the contract.

SouthEast Asia is a rapidly growing region of the world economy. Increasing car ownership means that service station construction is buoyant.

Fibrelite, which has a turnover of £11m, said it chose Malaysia as its manufacturing hub because of its investor friendly approach to business and inward investment.
