Financial consultants increase workforce as new deals boost business

TWO North Yorkshire consultants for the independent financial advice (IFA) sector, have more than doubled turnover in the last year.

Retiring IFA, which is involved in the acquisition and sale of IFA firms, and sister company Foundation Resourcing, which specialises in financial recruitment, increased sales 226 per cent, to just under 410,000 for the year to October 31.

The businesses are both owned by Steve Hagues.

Mr Hagues said Retiring, which accounts for 90 per cent of turnover, had brokered brokered 26 deals so far this year.

"We have brokered deals involving funds under management totalling 600m this year, and the quality of the contracts reflects our acknowledged skills in arranging IFA transactions across the UK."

The businesses expect turnover to reach 1m next year, he added. They have also been helped by building links with other professional services firms in the region.

It has a mutual referral arrangement with BHP Law, a North-

East law firm with an office in Halifax, accountants Armstrong Watson, which has offices in Yorkshire, Cumbria and Dumfriesshire.

Retiring IFA and Foundation has also taken on three consultants and two administators, to work across both firms.
