Fire-hit mill comes back on to market

A YORKSHIRE mill which was badly damaged by fire could soon enjoy a new lease of life.

The Bradford office of chartered surveyors Eddisons has been instructed to dispose of the Ebor Mills site in Haworth.

The large multi-storey mill building, which was the centre piece of a proposed development and home to Airedale Springs, was damaged by fire in 2010.

The company, which produces springs for firms including Bentley and Flymo, later moved its operations to The Spring Works in Haworth.

Offers for the site are being invited from developers who are interested in gaining planning permission to convert the three listed buildings.

The previous planning consent for residential conversion was suspended following the fire.

Shazad Mahmood, a spokesman for Eddisons, said yesterday: ‘The site is well located within Haworth, close to a wide range of local amenities and in a popular and attractive position.

“It benefits from a semi-rural location, with much of the surrounding land being green belt with woods beyond, and should prove attractive as a residential re-development opportunity.”

The Ebor Mills site contains three Grade II listed buildings, including offices and a boiler house.
