Firm's new centre sheds light on solar energy

A YORKSHIRE green energy company is set to launch its new solar power centre with the help of the lead architect of the Eden Project in Cornwall.

Ploughcroft, a solar roofing firm, will open its new eco roof centre on February 4 with architect Michael Pawlyn. Mr Pawlyn will discuss how Britain can create a solar economy by moving away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy.

Ploughcroft has moved its eco roof centre to a larger site in Brighouse, allowing more space for schools, colleges and environmentalists to get an insight into the workings of solar power. The open day, which will take place between 11am and 2pm, will include advice from in-house experts on solar products and installation, a demonstration of a solar log system, training and the showcasing of products.

Ploughcroft installs photo-voltaic systems. It was set up in 1997 by Mr Hopkins and his father, Bill, as a traditional domestic building and roofing business. When the older man retired in 2004, his son bought him out and opened the firm's first eco-roof centre. For more information on next month's event, email [email protected]
