Former police station on the market

A FORMER West Yorkshire Police station has been put up for sale as a redevelopment opportunity.

Brotherton House sits at the junction of Westgate and St Paul’s Street in Leeds city centre. The 56,000 sq ft building, which was constructed in the 1950s, was built as the head office of chemical manufacturer Brotherton & Co, and when it opened in 1956 included teak parquet flooring and a state-of-the-art central heating system.

In 1963, it was bought by Leeds Corporation and became the headquarters for the Leeds Police force from 1965. In 1976, the police moved to purpose-built headquarters elsewhere in the city retaining Brotherton House for administration facilities. The agent is Jones Lang LaSalle.
