Friendly society moving forward

A Yorkshire friendly society has relocated its headquarters as part of its expansion drive.

Kingston Unity Friendly Society (KU) has moved to new premises, totalling 2,250 sq ft over two floors, at 9 Navigation Court in Calder Park, Wakefield, from Park Square West in Leeds.

Property consultancy Ryden bought the building on behalf of the mutual friendly society, which was founded in 1840 and has more than 55,000 members, for 292,000.

The firm also fitted out the building to create modern open-plan office space, which was formally opened by the Mayor of Wakefield Coun Tony Wallis.

Ryden manages KU's property investment portfolio and has re-let KU's old headquarters, comprising 1,246 sq ft, to law firm GT Stewart.
